For the second time this year, we are providing a performing opportunity via Zoom and we hope that many of you will have students ready to participate, performing live to an online audience.  A Zoom recital allows us to sing for each other, our friends and relatives without having to worry about COVID protocols and masks, and has the added benefit of opening our performances to friends and relatives anywhere in the world!

This recital is called “ A Light and Lively Afternoon of Singing” and is open to all ages, all genres and styles and all levels of training. Our first priority is that we make music as “together” as we can under the circumstances. Each performer is asked to perform a maximum of 6 minutes of music, so 2 shorter songs or one longer song or aria. That would allow 10 to 12 singers in the time we have allotted from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.

The deadline to register as a performer is Thursday February 18. Please register via email to me, Geordie Roberts at groberts@capilanou.ca. We ask you to register so that we can schedule sound checks. Singers will be asked to introduce themselves and announce their repertoire when they perform, so there is no pressure to submit information for a program and singers can decide on the day of the recital what they would like to perform. If there is anything the singers would like to tell us about their song, they are welcome to do so: what it is about, why they’ve chosen to sing it, what they are hoping to achieve in their performance or just “Hi” and carry on. Whatever makes the singer comfortable is a-ok, as the emphasis is on keeping the proceedings informal and fun for both singers and audience. Some indication at registration of whether the singer would like to perform earlier or later in the program is appreciated.
